Bodkin Design and Engineering (BD&E) provides product development, innovation, and engineering services to the industrial, commercial, military, and research communities.  More specifically, we tailor engineered solutions to challenging needs including designing, building and customizing optical instruments.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position supports BDE’s sensor development programs.  This position is responsible for the assembly and test of prototype optical sensors, for development of instrument performance models, for spectral data analysis software development, and for image analysis software development using IDL, including extensive use of IDL programming to create hyperspectral data cubes from sensor data. 

Additional responsibilities will include support for BDE’s ongoing vendor qualification efforts, proposal and technical report writing.

Experience Level:

0-3 Years

Requirements:
Requires a BS or MS in Physics, Optics, Earth Science or related field.  Excellent writing skills and experience with optical system design or test and an advanced programming language required.  Experience with spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, optical design (Zemax, Code V), thermal imaging modeling in NVTherm IP, signal processing, image processing, mechanical design (AutoCad), embedded programming, IDL or ENVI a definite plus. US
  citizenship required.
